I first checked it out at PASIC and became friends with Dave "Bedrock" Bedrosian, from Super Drum.
At the time, I was going more in the direction of 8 lugs, but I am really impressed with the tuning and sensitivity.
I will post some pics and a video soon.
It's worth a look
Also, surprisingly, Ford drums has a GRANITE(!) snare that blew whatever presuption of a stone snare I had out of the water.

Here's my snare thread. I don't claim to be a collector or an addict, but I have accumulated a few snares. I use all of the snares I own. If I don't use it, I get rid of it. (I've gotten rid of some pretty nice snares this way--Jazz Festivals, Dynasonics, etc...) I'm very much into the way my instruments sound, and when I shop for snares, I don't care if it's a cheap import or a name-brand high-end snare. It just happens that all of the snares I like happen to NOT be cheaply-made imports. If I see a deal, I'll snag it, if only to play around with it for a while before releasing it back into the marketplace. These are the trophies I've kept and continue to use. (Sorry that the pictures are lo-res, but that's what I've got at the moment.)

Alright, so here's my go-to snare. It's a 1965 Slingerland Hollywood Ace. There's no badge, and the throw-off was replaced by a Ludwig, but MAN does it sound GREAT! I play this one out the most, with my 1970 Ludwig Downbeat. Definitely a player's snare, but I get compliments on it from other drummers all the time.
