Yeah, you should hear it with those wood hoops.
The Super Drum is fine, also.
I've been in the studio with it. We will be finished by spring and I will post some sound samples, if not sooner.

I built a 6.5" x 14" maple stave with the same hoops for a customer and he loves those hoops - and the drum...

Kevin, sounds nice. did you take any pictures?
The problem I have with the wood hoops is the distance that it adds-thigh to thigh.
I haven't played one that is thinner, like a bass drum hoop. I would like to, though.
I also need to buy some snare stands without the thick rubber.
I posted another thread about putting up some video samples. I'm going to try.

Here you go..The picture quality is not the best. Yeah, the overall diameter with the wood hoop is a bit of a problem with stands.

Great job, Kevin!
For me, It's not just the stand, but it becomes a 15", snare basically, and if I'm using the double pedal, the distance is even worse. Have you done any work with the thinner wood hoop. ala a bass drum?-Bobby

RE: My new 12 lug Super Drum in the studio
I have not done a drum with the thin ones yet. Some people call these the Ayotte style hoop and the thick one the Yamaha style hoop.

You have to watch with the Ayotte style though because the bass-style claw you have to use with those will further offset the t-rod away from the shell. I have seen guys add spacers to the lugs to compensate or go with a bass drum tube lug..

So it would probably be the same distance issue.
Thanks, Kevin.
